This product launch builds on the long-term partnership between Hanshow and Ahold Delhaize, which began in early 2018 and has since enabled extensive deployment of Hanshow’s ESL solutions across their store networks in Europe. These deployments have enhanced pricing accuracy, improved operational efficiency, and supported environmental goals.

Throughout the development process, Albert Heijn provided valuable insights and feedback regarding product functionality, visibility, and sustainability requirements. These inputs helped inform Hanshow’s innovation and refinement cycles.

Hanshow carried out several rounds of iterative product refinement—including color enhancements for improved visual appeal, hardware adjustments to extend battery life, and display optimizations for sharper resolution—resulting in a solution that aligns with customer expectations and operational requirements.

The ESLs feature improvements in resolution, color contrast, battery life, and installation efficiency—contributing to both operational excellence and the reduction of paper usage. Shelf-edge visibility for promotions like “Bonus” and markdown items is significantly enhanced, further improving shopper engagement and reducing manual labor. These upgrades also enable a low-carbon production and installation process that aligns with both companies’ environmental commitments.

Hanshow has developed a new series of ESLs that are smarter, more sustainable, and fully aligned with the operational needs of Albert Heijn’s stores. The solution is optimized for real-time price updates, flexible promotional campaigns, and a seamless in-store digital experience.

The solution is currently being rolled out across Albert Heijn’s retail network, with a growing number of stores already equipped and further expansion actively underway. This large-scale implementation reflects a significant step forward in realizing the shared vision for future-ready retail.

“This project demonstrates Hanshow’s capability to deliver deeply localized, customer-focused innovation,” said Shiguo Hou, CEO of Hanshow. “We’re proud to bring our advanced ESL technology to a wider network of stores and help shape the future of digital retail across Europe.”

As strategic partners, Hanshow and Ahold Delhaize will continue to explore next-generation technologies that accelerate the transformation toward intelligent, sustainable, and digitalized retail environments.
