Demonstrating its strong commitment to sustainability and community engagement, Hanshow joined forces with Greater Sydney Landcare and Hunter’s Hill Council for a meaningful corporate volunteering event on April 4, 2025. The initiative brought together 23 Hanshow employees and 7 local Bushcare volunteers for a day of environmental restoration at Riverglade Reserve in Huntleys Cove.
The event took place in the heart of the Hunter’s Hill Local Government Area and was part of an ongoing partnership to promote ecological restoration and community-led conservation. With guidance from Bushcare coordinators, volunteers learned native planting techniques and worked together to plant over 600 native shrubs, grasses, and groundcovers. Among the species planted were Melaleuca, Acacia, Pultenaea, Daviesia, Microlaena, Lomandra, Dianella, Dichondra, and Lobelia.
The effort focused on expanding a key shrub corridor to enhance habitat for small bird species, particularly the vibrant Red-browed Finch, which relies on dense native vegetation for nesting and shelter. This habitat extension is a crucial step in improving biodiversity and creating resilient green spaces in urban areas.
In addition to the planting work, Hanshow volunteers participated in a Streamwatch water quality monitoring session at Tarban Creek, which runs through Riverglade Reserve and connects to the Parramatta River. The activity provided insights into the health of the local waterway and the importance of catchment care in urban ecosystems.
After a productive morning, the group shared a BBQ lunch in the sunshine beside the mangroves—an opportunity to relax, connect, and reflect on the positive environmental impact of their efforts.
Hanshow’s participation in this initiative is part of the company’s broader mission to lead by example in environmental stewardship. As outlined in Hanshow’s recently released Sustainability Report, the company is advancing bold ESG strategies that include improving energy efficiency, reducing carbon emissions, and fostering community partnerships to amplify environmental and social impact. The report highlights Hanshow’s ongoing efforts to embed sustainability into its core operations through innovation, responsible governance, and global collaboration.
By engaging in local environmental projects like the Riverglade Reserve restoration, Hanshow demonstrates its dedication to translating corporate sustainability goals into tangible community action—creating shared value for the environment, partners, and the broader society.
Special thanks to Hunter’s Hill Council for their support in providing the planting site, supplying native vegetation, and coordinating the event logistics, and to the Bushcare volunteers for their dedication to protecting Sydney’s green spaces.
